Here's the thing about cutting down trees, and you should be aware of this in California, because you keep having all these gigantic, completely devastating forest fires - it's because before modern people came along, fires mainly from lightning used to happen regularly and burn out the forests. It was a natural phenomenon to have forests cleared regularly like this. Now, there's so much forest "management" and not nearly enough controlled burns, so the trees get overgrown and crowded, the underbrush and deadfall builds up heavily, so when there's a forest fire it burns hotter and harder and it's far harder to control. You actually NEED ethical logging and controlled burns in order to keep a forest healthy. The forest service in California is doing a truly terrible job and is actually responsible for more trees being killed in fire and ground becoming sterilized by the heat of these intense fires, which makes it so much harder to recover and takes so much longer, and you need to be aware of this.

I wonder if Rhett ever ponders on pleasant things. He seldom talks about pleasant things. It's usually about dying and nature being destroyed. Does he look forward to anything happy, or does he just go from one dread to another? I'm sorry πŸ˜•

It's better to breathe then not.
I always Breathe in through the nose. Out the nose when not moving around a lot and out the mouth for activities

I couldn't breathe through my nose at all and didn't understand how people did - then I got sinus surgery (deviated septum fixed and bone spur removal).

It's so nice breathing through your nose! Huuuge difference.

I'm not really a burper. What I tend to get badly are hiccups. Maybe that's why (because I don't burp)? They start out innocent and then get louder and louder and start to hurt. Only thing that saves me is gingerale which makes me burp or forcing air to burp. I didn't think of that aspect when I started typing. So, I don't burp naturally.

I definitely do the nose/mouth breathing method while I am on a long run (8+ miles.) It feels like it does make me feel more energized and helps me pull my focus in on the moment. And when I do the nose/mouth breathing I do a deep pull of air in to expand my chest before exhaling.
________
I burp discreetly if I know I am around people but I don't vape my burbs. I didn't even know what it meant to vape your burps until I watched this Car Biscuit.
________

I consider myself an environmentally conscious person and I try to do my best in making day-to-day decisions that would have a more positive impact on the earth. I carry in my bag a small utensil kit that has a metal straw, bamboo chopsticks, a fork, a spoon, and a cotton napkin. That way, if I'm out and about and get something to go, I don't have to use disposable, single-use plastic utensils. I also live in a city where a lot of supermarkets sell foods and products in bulk and encourage customers to bring their own clean, reusable containers to store their bulk items for purchase. So I always do that when I go shopping. And I always have at least one reusable tote bag with me so that I don't use single-use plastic bags when I make a sudden purchase. Even though the data hasn't really come back on whether this show if it does or doesn't make an environmental impact, I've swapped to eating full plant-based foods 3 to 4 times out of the week. I don't consider myself vegan or vegetarian, but swapping things out just gives me more food options and makes cooking more fun for me. And if it helps the environment, awesome.

Not me thinking "tree work" was about to become a euphemism. I'm just in a goofy mood. I'm gonna go touch some grass.

TikTok is the perfect toilet app, it really is. OH! every now & then I'll see something that makes me think of one or both of y'all & I wrestle w tagging you in the comments so you can see it. I don't wanna be a bother. Sometimes I'll do it. πŸ˜… But there's some NEAT stuff out there that sometimes just overwhelmingly brings y'all to mind.

I *have* vaped a burp before, usually in a public setting when discretion is preferred. But at home, all bets are off! I'm trying to get my 11 y/o son to learn the difference between public discretion and at-home lettin'-it-fly but he hasn't seemed to retain that knowledge just yet. πŸ₯΄

Wow, what an excellent way to help spread awareness! I love it!! 😍
As much as it pains me to say it, the leading cause of deforestation appears to be cattle ranching. Reducing or eliminating one's dependence on factory farmed meat is the fastest, easiest way to help offset the greenhouse gases involved by reducing one's carbon footprint. And not by just a little bit, either; I mean immensely.

What are some other good ways to help offset deforestation? OOH! I also like to contribute to organizations that plant trees. πŸ₯° You know, "every purchase helps plant X amount of trees" or what not. I'd definitely love to see what other ppl are doing to help. Knowledge is power, y'all! πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸ˜ƒ Let's spread more of it! πŸ˜„

I definitely try to breath in through my nose when I'm sitting in silence. I'm not in very good shape, so breathing through my nose during exercise is difficult. I'll probably try that again! (Lower intensity with more deliberate breathing.)

For planet-helping, my main things are not owning a car, living in a small apartment, no pets, and paying carbon offsets.

About to vape burps for the rest of my day. What burp inducing substance is the best vape experience? or worst?

Erica is Lost in the Music on May 17, 2022 at 8:08 pm

BAHAHA! I can definitely tell you that soda or any carbonated beverage is the WORST!! πŸ˜‚ You ever try to burp that stuff silently through your nose? Oh, it burns SO BAD!! 🀣

Craig Sawisch on May 18, 2022 at 8:20 pm

Seltzer must burn so bad

Erica is Lost in the Music on May 18, 2022 at 11:13 pm

Totally!! πŸ₯΄πŸ˜‚
