2 year old video, and the best part of my whole day so far is still harmonizing w/ R&L to the theme from Gilligan's Island. I love being a Mythical Beast!
Man, I'd love to spend a whole day with Link just listening to music, singing along to our favorites, and just enjoying the moment. That would be the perfect day. I also wouldn't mind a karaoke party with them as well. I'd just love to enjoy music with them.
I've seen way more Green Acres than Gilligan's Island for some reason. I feel like I never saw re-runs of Gilligan's growing up but it felt like Green Acres was on all the time
I love singing happenlng - always.
I went through a big "Uptown Girl" phase in my early teens, but not having a computer at the time, I didn't explore Billy Joel super well. This year has been a big "Piano Man" year for me though I've loved it a few decades or more too - made a resurgence. Only started to appreciate Elton more this past year. I did see the biopic - it was an interesting format. PS - I didn't know that Billy Joel song you mentioned, but checked it out on Spotify and love it. He's one whose work I keep meaning to go back to and listen to everything.
Green Acres was WAAAAAY better than Gilligan's Island. ("Green Acres is the place to be. Farm living is the life for me....") Also, I don't see the Gilligan comparison for Link. Mr. Haney?! Really? I also loved Petticoat Junction amongst others. My parents got satellite when I was 7 or so. Quickly got addicted to The Monkees. They were thrilled and got me hooked on everything else - Mister Ed, I Dream of Jeannie, etc. Still... when y'all sang the "Gilligan's Island" theme song, I had to sing along.
Always makes me mad if someone beeps me too. Can't lie about that. Also makes me mad that I never think to beep other people. LOL.
PS - As I said, I love when music is mentioned in any form. Just following Link on Spotify has filled out my playlist. I tend to love most genres from the 40s to now. However, there are still areas I don't know that well. Case in point, Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Georgia Peaches" is now a favourite as are Keith Whitley's "Sad Songs and Waltzes" (sadly, I only knew his "Brotherly Love"), Crosby, Stills, & Nash's "Southern Cross", Loggins & Messina's "Danny's Song".... I could go on. So I just wanted to take a moment to appreciate whenever R + L bring up music. Rhett's rec of Bread's "Make It With You" is also on steady rotation. I finally learned to love George Jones much to the delight of my mother. I have always loved Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, etc, but could never get into George Jones. Finally made it there this year. Thanks for your music and the recs of the music of others.
PPS - Though in my mid-thirties, I don't really know a lot of current music other than roots, alt-country and the like. My main go to eras are the 60s through 80s or 90s. Favourite country singers being a tie of Hank Williams Sr and Merle Haggard. Lots off 80s classic rock - Springsteen, U2, Bon Jovi, etc. My favourite genre, however, is country music (really don't know current stuff aside from a couple songs - not country anymore) and all it's offshoots through Southern Rock to Folk to Alt-Country to Gram Parsons' Cosmic American Music.
Hey yโall! Iโm a reader! I have a book by the tub, on my nightstand, in my purse, in my car, in my laptop bag. I have my cityโs library e-book app on both my phone and iPad. I borrow and buy audiobooks for work and commute between podcasts.
Hereโs the debate between my friends & I: are โrealโ books better than e-books? Me- thereโs nothing better than smelling and holding a book made of paper. Absolutely Magical!
the horn was initially invented as a polite way of letting others know that they had done something wrong or that something was wrong with their car, or as a warning mechanism that you are rounding a corner in an alley or something. now its only function is to scream at people in anger. it's sad when people give me the finger when I'm signaling to potential cars I can't see around the corner in my alley that I'm there and don't want to get hit.
as far as the phone keeping you awake, it is the light, specifically blue/bright light makes your brain feel like it's still day.
I slightly raged over that lady honking... I wouldโve got out and said something to her. Then I wouldโve ended up on a worldstar video lol
I live in the northeast. Compared to most drivers around here, Linkโs version of โRoad rageโ for getting honked at, was like sipping a warm cup of chamomile tea by a roaring fire in a cabin in the woods on mid winterโs night. So polite!
I forgot that Rhett had pointy elbows. Link is definitely Gilligan. I see Rhett as more of the Dad in Beverly Hillbillies but well adapted to LA.
Really enjoyed the content, but this was no carpool. :) I'll let you go round and round with your speculation ;)
Love it! Cant wait to wach more of Rett and Link!!!
I'm concerned. Was Rhett having abdominal issues or was the seat belt too tight?
Might have been his back giving him trouble and so he was moving around the seat belt while trying to squirm into a more comfy position.
This was fun to watch but is it safe? It also made me glad I work from home.
That was the best thing EVER!!!
Totally enjoyed this. It's like fast food ear biscuits. Excited to see mote!
I love this format but be safe guys. We dont want to see you get hurt.
And Im 100% Elton. Im counting down days now until I see him live *squeal*
Iโm 100% Elton as well! I saw him last year and it was absolutely magical! Youโll have a blast!!
I saw him live back in 1972. Those were his sparkly suits, giant eyeglasses, and 12 inch platform shoe days. Loved it! It didn't hurt that I had a little something to smoke beforehand. :)
Love this format and the interaction. Great idea! I just moved up to 3rd degree, btw, and look forward to being a more active part of the society!
This was great. More singing is always my favorite
Stop saying your old it is a frame of mind. i'm 48 but i don't feel like it.
*High five to another youngster like me*
Don't worry I've done the oops stopped at a green light too. Honestly I think folks need to exercise patience because some drivers like myself struggle with anxiety and to be honked at can send you into a "omg omg omg" mad hatter to fix our wrongs and could cause a wreck from being jolted. That's why I usually have my music loud even though I'm aware it might disturb others, it calms me... Oh to be normal, that'd be nice.
Dude! Rebecca Rivard is my Sister.
link stopping at a green light is a mood...
This new car vlog format was so compelling! Absolutely enjoyable, I could get on board with all the monthly vlogs like this. And the natural lighting makes yโall look so young. Canโt wait to watch the Saturday two man vlogs!
I love links jacket and style in general
Lol link getting upset at someone honking their horn. Classic link road rage.
I really love the carpool format. It feels like we're just hanging out with the boys.
Just watched this for the second time.
Itโs just really good. It reminded me of EarBiscuits, but with an even more relaxed vibe. Loving it.
Link getting all upset at that lady who honked at him is totally me driving! I will lecture them on their impatience even though they can't hear me! Sometimes I will honk back at the person who honks at me! Lol
Thanks for this video it totally made my day!!
what the heck is the comparison with gilligan?? You do not in any way look like Bob denver? nor are you like him in actions?!! I felt that was an insult.
I love this this is so fun!!!!!
I absolutely would have pegged Link as The Professor but I guess if I think about it heโs more energetically Gillian ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
So fun to get to hang with you guys like this! Feels much more relaxed and genuine! Loved it! โค๏ธโค๏ธ
Phahaha link giving a little honk at the end to that guy ๐๐๐คฃ brilliant loved this video ๐๐๐๐คฃ๐๐๐
This was cool! Love that the Society vlogs are actually vlogs now - can't wait to see more :)
(Also, how rude. I'm 26 and know both of those Billy Joel songs. You callin' me old, hairy boy?)
This was a very enjoyable Vlog. I can't wait to see more. :)
They passed three 7-11โs.
I was looking at all the mail trucks
LOVE this format!! Excited to see vlogs on the R&L channel and see what other fun formats these vlogs might take on. Thanks guys!
This was so much fun to watch! I couldn't decidd between Billy Joel and Elton John, but Piano man and Your song are my favourites from them.
My go-to method of falling asleep is doing crossword puzzles - with a book, or a phone, I'll stay up all night.
The quality of this astounded me. How fun!
Love this format!! ๐
Absolutely loved this video, can not wait for more like it.
Love the carpool format! โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธAnd definitely Billy Joel.....not even close. Today's music doesn't compare. Thanks for doing this, it's just right! โค๏ธ
Billy Joel. No question about it. But I really enjoyed the vlog. Canโt wait to see more. My Mythical Society subscription was the best Christmas present!!๐
Love this!!
This was awesome. The abundance of singing, the more relaxed atmosphere, and most importantly, the feeling that they often forgot they were on film that pervaded the episode, made this format way more engaging and entertaining. I definitely like having the videos split like this. ๐
It made my heart very happy to join you on this car ride. I look forward to more relaxed car adventures? ๐ฅฐ
I love the format of this.
now that i've seen link sing bennie and the jets i can die peacefully
billy joel > elton john
Right off the bat I learned Iโm old.
Great. Wonderful. I love being a part of this. ๐๐
Fun fact: I was so into Billy Joel for a while I named a cat after him and Iโm not sorry about it.
I both love and hate car vlog videos. I think I'm going to love them but then sometimes I get simulation sickness from them and sometimes find the background too distracting. I find the best ones are ones where it's mostly done in a stopped car.
This one wasn't too bad, but I did get a bit queasy.
LOVE this new format for the vlogs! Seeing you guys out in the daylight is always a treat.
This was such a good direction for the vlogs! I love it!
๐ I love the new vlog format. I too am an old person and loved all the songs you boys were singing. Billy Joel is amazing!!! Elton John has such good music too. tough choice. Link, I loved Green Achers! I would watch it everyday after school. That was such a fun show. I am excited for next months vlog and even more excited for the Saturday isoladed adventure vlogs. Love you boys. Sorry that lady honked at you. I agree she could use a little more patience, maybe there was a safety reason you stopped at a green light that she couldn't see. Love you boys.
I love separating the vlog and the business meeting.
Love it! This was fun. I canโt wait to see what youโll come up with next. As usual, the conversations about the answers are more fun than the actual answers. And Link meant Mr. Haney from Green Acres (Pat Buttram). (Yes, Iโm old. ๐)
Great vid!! Also LINK WHAT BRAND ARE YOUR GLASSES I MUST KNOW! They are primo. ๐
They were actually filming this in Northern California to throw off the people who try to figure out where in Los Angeles the Mythical studio is.
Loved this, it was awesome. So fun and entertaining!
This format is so refreshing!! I want more, but sadly, I have to wait a month :(
I loved the Billy Joel or Elton John discussion. I love Billy Joel's songs (especially Uptown Girl). I'm also happy to know that Rhett liked Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons!! It makes me happy that I finally know someone who actively listened to them. Love y'all!!! Can't wait for the next vlogs and the new GMM season!
I like the new format! (if you could include singing every time, that would be great). :D
Iโm 23 and I love Billie Joel lol So trust me some of the younger Mythical Beasts are still sharp and cultured. ๐๐
This was so good. I love the car vlogs.
This vlog format is so cool. I like site seeing so the mountains in the background was so awesome to me. I enjoyed them singing too.
Hey Link. Count yourself fortunate that you were only beeped at. I was stopped at a red light which turned green. As I went to drive off another car slammed in to the back of me. Whilst my four month old and I seemed to be fine at the time I'm sure the accident was a contributing factor to the back issues that have plagued me for years. The baby he's 19 now.
Love it!! Thank you! ๐
I could watch that multiple times a week and be quite content.
Now I want to rewatch Gilligan's island lmao
I loved it!!! Can't wait for the vlogs next week
Not only did I get the references but I knew the words to both Billy Joel songs as well as the Gilligan's island theme song ... Iโm not OLD! Shut your mouth right now! ๐คฃ๐คฃ
This vlog format was fun and entertaining! Thanks.
This was a lot of fun, I loved it! I also got all the references since I am as old as you both lol.
wow.. my question got answered and lead to a sing along ๐ฅฐ. I only asked the Gillian question cause I happened to be watching reruns of it that day!
Lord knows I'm plenty old enough to remember all those references today. Although now "We Didn't Start the Fire" is stuck in my head.
Also, thank you for using your blinker, Link!
Link pulling over for that lady to pass him was real inspiring for someone like me, who wouldโve been more like the old Link โ laying on my horn back @ em, just to make myself feel good ๐
LOVE IT! So much fun. Thanks guys!
Love the new format!
Fun! It was a nice change of pace ;)
This vlog was perfect. And Link getting a bit hung up on the lady honking at him was very funny and very relatable ๐
Oh my gosh, I LOVE the carpool idea!! โค๏ธโค๏ธ
And Linkโs very passive road rage SPEAKS TO ME! ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ ๐๐
This was the best yet. I love the carpool โค๏ธ
I love the new vlog format ๐๐ผ
I love it!
This is going to be some awesome monthly content
And you can sing because you're not trying to monetize this video on YouTube so it is all okay... I think? :-P
Link must be a pretty good driver! For some reason I kept thinking, if Rhett won't let him hold a knife, how is he trusting him to drive? ๐
Honestly, though, that was fun. Thanks for all the Society perks!
Rhett, I'm old like y'all, I understood the music mash joke ๐ฅฐ
Same! Oldie music jokes ftw!๐๐๐
Link pulling over for that lady to pass him was real inspiring for someone like me, who wouldโve been more like the old Link - laying on my horn back @ em, just to make myself feel good ๐
I hope all these vlogs have this much singing. Love it!!
