The way Rhett looked at Link right before he wondered what he was going to be like when he is old. Combination of concern, confusion and acceptance. True friend, knowing he's not going anywhere.
I get those light flashes in the corner of my eye like Rhett described. A doctor told me it was eye strain and not to worry about it.
Optical Migraines are horrible. It's like dead spots and they spread as the episode goes on. Blurred waves/spots. You can see them no matter if eyes are open or closed and same shapes in both eyes. I can't really see anything clearly when it happens. The first time one happened, I panicked and made an immediate eye appointment. I thought I was going blind. My dad is partially blind in one eye. His optical nerve partially detached. They did a full exam and said I was having a migraine. No head pain at all that first time. Now when they hit, I take pills immediately (Advil Cold and Sinus usually). The headache normally follows about half an hour or so later. I get them 3 or 4 times a year. Once you've had one, I hate to say it, but you'll probably have more. Medicate immediately.
I flashed back to Daddy Garlic Fingers. LOL.
link, have you seen survivorman (les stroud) because if you like survival shows I think you'd like him. I love his show. this is the first car show I've watched and I'll probably check more when I'm missin GMM on the weekend cause it's pretty nice. long time fan, new member. I've been watching you guys since I was 11 or something (give or take two years) and now I'm coming up on 22. long winded comment but it's lovely to see all this.
Yesss, I got so excited when I saw Car Biscuits in the title! haha
I was in the hospital with meningitis and sepsis for a couple months, one of the things it caused was "mini strokes" from a blood clot in my brain. For about 3 years I would get pretty much the same thing but on the left and right side, not in my main vision. I don't get them anymore at all but the dr said it was from the mini strokes. I'm totally fine now, besides losing some of my hearing in one ear. Obviously that's not what yours is from but I do think it's something to get looked at! Catching something at the beginning signs is so much better than trying to recover from something serious. It could very well just be a migraine but knowing for sure is always better, peace of mind is the best. ❤️
My husband gets migraines like that every month or two. he immediately takes ibuprofen, gummies, and lays down in a dark room for 30-60 minutes. The doctor recommended he keep taking ibuprofen for 24-48 hours after to keep it from coming right back.
Hope you don't get them anymore. ❤️
I don't like migraines I get at least once a year but sometimes more. they get so bad that i have to sleep to get rid of them
Love 'Car Biscuits'~ ^_^
most of my migraines have been occular since i was a teenager. Id get an aura and then it would be followed by a horrible migraine.
*gives my past sympathy*
As much as I whole-heartedly agree with Rhett that this isn't exactly a biscuits and should have been called something else, I am so excited about what this means for the new format (no fan questions and just pure ramble). haha
yeaaaah idk.
The omicron shuffle...🤣...wow that was genius
Link, you might not be able to smell garlic but you CAN smell colors! 🙂
wow, I didn't know garlic chips were a thing. I've been making my own for ages, and I do smell it the next morning
Link it sounds like an ocular migraine i've had them they suck
Here's my 2 cents: I'm glad these moments of stress are temporary with you, Link, but it wouldn't hurt to look into finding healthy ways to work through those moments, so it takes less of a negative effect on you. Just because you don't feel like that all the time doesn't mean you shouldn't try to better it [not saying you're not, I don't know your personal day-to-day actions]. I can't help but want to see you happy and healthy, my friend. I care about you and want to make sure you're taken care of. I will never apologize for that. I hope you're better now and taking care of yourself. I'll always be looking out for you.
I feel for past Link, I am similar with important things. But it also means that you really care about what is coming and feel it is important to do right. (Even if you know you're going to ace it, it still stresses.)
And while the headache is crappy I find the more silent and cautious Link kinda cute, too. It's also really nice Rhett understands you. <3
Link; it’s a migraine. I suffer from them often. It’s a migraine with an aura. The aura is exactly as you described. Then the headache follows. For me there are many other symptoms. Would definitely mention it to your doc. Hopefully they don’t become chronic like mine. They suck. Hang in there bud!
Eye test while driving not recommended, huh... have you ever heard of Barnard Castle?
watching Car Biscuits (absolutely perfect 👍) during a baby hurricane here in southern England, making me feel much better about the sound of my neighbours metal fence about to uproot and fly indiscriminately through the garden! As ever I turn to RandL to calm stressful situations. Try not to stress Link, every moment is just a future past. Your comments made me think of a new song by Duran Duran called Future Past and that's a line from it. You should give it a listen it's a beautiful song 😁
Hoo boy, wait until Link learns the c-bomb is both a nasty word and a term of endearment in Australia. It's totally fine to have a number of f-words on prime time television before they need to be beeped. Swearing is just part of the culture down here (as long as you're in friendly company).
I've suffered from migraines since my teens, but only started getting auras (the visual disturbances Link experienced) when they suddenly became chronic a few years backnin my 30s. Migraines are weird, brutal beasts! And they're confusing and scary the first time they happen and you don't know what is going on. So I was really glad that they figured it out, and I hope it didn't last too long - I can't imagine a whole day of filming with a migraine that was lingering. And here's hoping it was a one-off and Link doesn't get hit with another any time soon, because they're miserable.
I've had exactly the same thing that Link describes. It's called a retinal migraine. Super scary when it first happens!
Whoooops, turns out retinal and ocular migraines are the same thing 😅
Hey Link, if you haven’t already, try a deep tissue massage. They help me manage my migraines and the general tightness of my body. Enjoy!
Ohh, Link, it seems you had what is called a "scintillating scotoma" or "migraine aura". It's basically how a big migraine starts, sometimes. And mostly caused by stress :( I remember the first time it happened to me, years ago, when I was at work and I thought I was having a stroke. They even rushed me to the hospital because the work doctor didn't have a clue as to what it was when I described it. At the hospital I had an MRI brain scan done and of course, nothing. They let me go home but I still had my doubts, so I rushed to the eye doctor and she laughed and explained the whole thing to me. It's happened at least 5 times in the last couple of years and even though I know what to expect now, it can get really scary when I have an episode while on the street! I hope your levels of stress go down soon, though, and these episodes don't become a burden to you.
Lots of love from Argentina.
Gotta love when these guys drop some real deep thoughts. Even with a migraine, Link is asking for no sympathy, and talking about how it's in the past (prompted by Rhett's wise words.) But anyways, I'm interested to see whatever this secret thing is that you were taking about!
In Australia 'shit' is still a curse word, but we are just more lax about cursing.
I've been getting migraine aura, often in both eyes, with and without headaches, for years, so I just wanted to reach out and tell Link he'd be okay when he first started wondering what was wrong and I was so relieved when he figured it out, because I've been through that whole process! I found out what it was by half of the vision in both eyes going blank, thought I might go blind, had a lot of expensive tests done, and was told it was likely just a migraine. "Just" a migraine. I don't wish them on anyone! Thanks for sharing this vulnerable moment. Hope you feel better, Link, and it doesn't happen again, or at least next time it doesn't scare you. :)
I've had the flashy zebra pattern before - an ocular migraine. They suuuuuuck.
Aaaand I'm now to the part where they say it.
As an Australian I would like to know what season of Australian survivor you are watching Link? I also agree that it is just as good as the American 🙂
OMg, shrimp tails are NAYstee. I agree w Link, it IS akin to trying to eat a mass of fingernails or something. I've never been able to handle it; too tough. Garlic chips sound divine, though!
Oh gosh, the smellability. My hubby is like Link (doesn't smell that) and I can smell it ALL, in excruciating detail. I almost wish I didn't olfact so well. 😂 Guess I should be careful what I wish for. 👀
Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry about the eye thing Link experienced. 🖤 It does sound like an ocular migraine, tho. My son gets those. 🥺
Hahaha I have hypochondriatic tendencies as well. I avoid WebMD like the plague...bc I'll literally talk myself into thinking I HAVE the actual plague. 😂
Awwww. No Fallon! Well, rats. 🥺 These things happen. someday we'll be past this. I sure hope so, anyway. 🤞🏻
Thank y'all for this, it was lovely hear from you like this again, as always. And Rhett, your beard looks exceptionally magnificent today. 🥰
CAR BISCUITS, and THE INTRO~ I really hope Rhett learns to love it, because my heart dropped and came back up! :D
as a migraine haver, that is for sure classified as an (aura) migraine even if it only feels like a headache. which is incredibly lucky honestly. hopefully it didn't get worse, which of course can happen. if my memory serves, link's always talked about headaches and stuff in the past. so it could be a natural progression in symptoms, or stress of course. a lot of migraines present itself as pain in the eyes so that makes sense too
the sunglasses and the finger in the ear is hilarious only because i know sooo well how that feels. ear muffs, sunglasses, & ice pack is my go-to LOL - just some advice if anyones reading :p
I haven't even watched yet but CAR BISCUITS. I am DECEASED. 😍🥰
I was stupid excited over the name change! It's the little things that make me happy, lol.
Also, the hearing and visual sensitivity (also smells and touch in my case) are pretty common migraine symptoms. The aura (or prodrome) phase preceeds the headache. There are also non-visual auras. Wouldn't be a bad idea to check in with the doctor just to make sure everything is okay.
Yes!
1. Yay, for the new name!
2. Thank you for powering through, Link. Hey, you did it! 🥳
3. We love supportive and honest friendship and communication.
I am dying at Link in Rhett's sunglasses and his finger on his ear. Poor thing but it is hilarious!
What a cute new chapter. Welcome to Car Biscuits. <3
I feel for Link, I know what is like to feel like something is wrong with you even if it's nothing
So sad we don't get to see them on Fallon! I just recently binged all of the Fallon episodes and then saw the previous Car Biscuits and was so stoked!
migraine with aura. my son had this but lost his sight in one eye for an hour or so before the headache began. x
Y'all! Thank you! My heart did a little dance when Rhett said it!!! Love this!
Finally committed to Car biscuits, huh?
just reading the title, I say 'Yes'
