More Rhett & Link Ask Mike

Rebecca Hemmingson on December 9, 2020 at 3:57 pm

This just made me think about Buddy System with Rhett being the supertaster ;) but its definitely interesting, I grew up with parents who couldn't cook to save themselves so nothing was "tasty" - these days I do so many experiments with food (not like you guys with GMM though haha) and majorly increased my taste, and it shows with my 3 year old - he has a wider range of enjoyable foods than I did even 5 years ago.. love the science behind it all :)

I began liking spicy hot food while living in Japan. We ate a lot of sushi, and wasabi would get on my sushi just by accident and I slowly fell in love with the flavor. Now, I eat Habenro hot sauce! A lot, lol. I taste the flavor of the pepper in the sauce, past the heat . I'm so glad I increased my spicy flavor pallette!

Sarah Wieb on November 19, 2020 at 2:50 am

I know I'm a super taster because we did that chemical test at science north and in my science class but for me it's mainly a texture thing like I cant eat tomatoes but I have tomato sauce and juice stuff like that but I pick tomatoes off of everything even if it's like cut up in a pasta sauce I will still push the tomatoes to the side... my fiancee hates it but I continue to try new things even if it may seem weird or gross to me.

Rachel Szczesny on November 12, 2020 at 12:10 am

loving this series

Kat Conrad on November 9, 2020 at 7:45 pm

I'm a really picky eater like link. This made me feel better about it. :)

Erica is Lost in the Music on November 10, 2020 at 1:45 am

Doesn’t taste begin forming in utero? Check this out: I’ve always *loved* super spicy food but when I was pregnant with my son I couldn’t handle it anymore. I was crushed! But once he was weaned, my ability to tolerate that wonderful heat gradually returned. Turns out my son can’t handle even the slightest bit of spiciness. He is 9 and thinks pepperoni is too spicy. I can’t even cook with *any* amount of black pepper because it lights him up. I think it’s interesting that my own tastes changed while I was carrying him. He couldn’t handle the spicy so, at least while he took up residence in my body, I couldn’t, either. Pretty dang cool. Or, at least not as hot, anyway. 🌶 Heh.

Alison Menzies on November 10, 2020 at 1:23 am

My husband thinks I'm a super taster because there are so many foods that I just can't like no matter how hard I try. I did grow up eating pretty bland food and I never knew that that probably contributed to my adult tastes to the extent that this video says.

Preston Moore on November 9, 2020 at 6:50 pm

this is awesome!

Stacey Whitworth on November 9, 2020 at 4:01 am

I love this series already. Mike’s great.

Joy Steinmiller on November 8, 2020 at 8:00 pm

This makes me feel so much better about being a picky eater. It's not entirely my fault.

Christina Briden on November 9, 2020 at 2:09 am

where can we ask questions??

Rebecca Chesnut on November 8, 2020 at 9:01 pm

Love this! I look forward to more episodes. Science Mike is a treasure. 🤩

Sneakynin on November 8, 2020 at 8:30 pm

Was that extemporaneous? if so, that's impressive.

Lori Mikos on November 8, 2020 at 11:33 am

That was really awesome and insightful. Really enjoyed watching Mike's response and love it when you have him on the show

William Whipkey on November 8, 2020 at 12:43 pm

Rhett says: I have a question, where can i buy lays potato chip thankgiving turkey dinner flavor?🍗🍗🍗🍗

Michelle Griffin on November 8, 2020 at 9:26 am

I love this series. And it explains my own taste particulars as well. I don’t think cilantro tastes like soap but I do have a particular aversion to it. Also I prefer more “live” foods than “dead”. For example spinach I prefer not cooked or not “dead”. Once the green is cooked it has a very off putting taste. I hope Mike does a video on seeing colors too.

MICHAEL DEVITO on November 7, 2020 at 8:10 pm

Missed opportunity if you dont add boopity-boop-boop to these when you're typing the question

Tyler Patten on November 8, 2020 at 1:47 am

Great video! You guys should get some blue food coloring and a magnifying glass and put Link’s taste buds to the count.

Deb Heidrich on November 7, 2020 at 1:49 pm

Love this...I LOVE Science Mike!!!❤️❤️❤️

Jade Avery (they/them) on November 7, 2020 at 1:38 pm

Everything about this was incredible.... you made science feel like a conspiracy doc and like precious fun at the same time and the whole thing just led up to a humble brag. XD

Benjamin Neil on November 7, 2020 at 7:33 am

Allison Young on November 7, 2020 at 6:42 am

A massive fan of this new series already.

Veronica Rose on November 7, 2020 at 6:39 am

So happy to be getting more Mike content! He makes things easy to understand, and relatable!

Meena Zahra on November 7, 2020 at 6:27 am

Can we please have a Mike & Rhett ASMR series

Meena Zahra on November 7, 2020 at 6:33 am

And of course Link is a super taster! The man tastes colour! Impressive

Dani Skelton on November 7, 2020 at 7:41 am

I love this! I am very much looking forward to the next installment. Keep'em comin'! 😊💛👍

Brian Montgomery on November 7, 2020 at 6:02 am

I, like Link, have always been a picky eater. Until I first heard about supertasters on GMM, I was under the impression that I had a "childish" palate, as I was constantly told that by family and friends. It was so cool for me to see this episode as the first installment of this series. I appreciate the humour and knowledge mix, and is one of the reasons GMM has always appealled to me. Thank you guys, and I believe Mike is going to have a new subscriber, too.

Betsy Rulong on November 7, 2020 at 1:55 pm

love this!

Erin ONeill on November 7, 2020 at 12:36 pm

I’m in the minority obviously but this isn’t really the content I want to pay for. I appreciate their friendship with Mike but I tuned out. I probably won’t watch the rest of the series.

Serenity Fague on November 7, 2020 at 11:58 am

Love this!! Fun and educational!!

Natalie Carrier on November 7, 2020 at 6:08 am

This was so interesting and calming. I'm from a family that cannot with cilantro. Even a smol sprig makes the whole dish taste like soap, but it being a scientific reason is fascinating.

Haley Ramírez on November 7, 2020 at 5:46 am

This was so fun! Mike is awesome.

Rachel Howe on November 6, 2020 at 8:34 pm

Yup definitely going to say I'm a super taster next time someone asks why I'm a picky eater! I don't like seafood, avocado, chilli, pork, ginger, blue cheese or hot sauce....I could go on 😁

Amber Jensen on November 7, 2020 at 7:18 am

After watching the whole video, my only request is that Rhett and Link actually TALK TO Mike!!!! This was a vid that could just be on Mike's page.... I still love it, but goodness.... at least get them on a call together so they can respond to what he's saying!!!! R & L weren't even watching, duh... we can tell. Lol. Still love the idea, just please include Rhett and Link!!

Heather Pellegrini on November 7, 2020 at 4:24 am

this was very interesting lol but also great at the same time! 👍🏻

Theresa Glasgow on November 6, 2020 at 5:14 pm

I'm a somewhat picky eater so interesting to see this one.

Lisa Wright on November 6, 2020 at 4:51 pm

Wow, Mike is so calming and wise. I could listen to him all day! Oh and awww Link has been vindicated! We love ya Link!

Whitney Quinn on November 6, 2020 at 11:43 pm

Mike is so wonderful and smart!!! VERY excited for this series to continue! Great job Mythical!

Jacob Rosof on November 6, 2020 at 9:43 pm

This makes sense becauseLink did so well in the super taster episode of GMM. Looking forward to more of this series!

Barbara A Baeckert on November 6, 2020 at 10:30 am

Yay--another person who isn't crazy about tomatoes. Like Mike I can eat them on a burger or BLT, but otherwise raw tomatoes just taste horrible to me--even ones from my garden.

It would be interesting to know if some supertasters are very adventurous eaters as all the flavors are so intense for them.

Amber Jensen on November 7, 2020 at 7:07 am

LOVE THIS! Science Mike is funny, intelligent and enlightening!
Ps, I love watching the weekly recap in my Cloak!! 😃😃😃 A happy new 3rd degree Beastie here thanks to the pull of the Cloak!! Been VERY worth the investment!! ❤❤❤

This was great! Dr. Mike is so informative and entertaining at the same time. I can't wait for the next time that Rhett says something about Link being picky. You just know that Link will shoot back the he's not a picky eater, he's a super taster! He'll try to rub it in Rhett's face as often as possible, and I LOVE it!

Jessica Peixoto on November 6, 2020 at 4:03 pm

Thank you Mike for this very interesting & insightful explanation. I am a picky eater (although I have gotten better with certain foods) & it was very exhausting & frustrating to always hear people criticize my pickiness. 🙄
I’ll make sure to tell whoever complains about my picky eating again about what Mike mentioned in this video ... and also that I’m a super taster. 😎
Can’t wait to learn more in the next episodes. 😊

Allison B. on November 6, 2020 at 7:29 am

From now on when anyone says I'm a picky eater, I'm gonna say, "Nope, I'm a Super Taster." Thanks Mike!

LESLIE Stowe on November 6, 2020 at 3:13 pm

I think that coming from a home where they had to be frugal and there was only one child also played into it. I have never been picky but I can taste nearly every ingredient in something as long as I have tasted it before. I also think that those who really never had control over much of anything chose to be more in control of what they eat on adulthood. I am not a professional but that's one take on it. Love you Link!

Heather a Fowler on November 6, 2020 at 3:04 pm

loved mr. mike.💙

Carrie Simpson on November 6, 2020 at 2:21 pm

so basically, Link isn't just a "picky eater", he's likely a "super taster". Its a super power! Get that man a cape!!

Sara R on November 6, 2020 at 2:21 pm

This is great! :)

Kirsty J on November 6, 2020 at 3:58 am

I love this new mini series. Mike is so easy to listen to.
