i'm just catching up on mythical society content. Anyway, I am in an older demographic, a.k.a. I'm Rhett & Link's age, and I can tell you that in my industry (hospitality), things Are changing. Now, when we are approached by an influencer, we look them up and see what their social media reach is and decide based on that (especially if there's a chance they'll post about the experience). I'll tell you if either of them were to call for a guestroom, they would be accommodated. The irony is that the more money you have the less you have to pay πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

I have plantar fasciitis in both feet. I know your pain Link.

Kerry on August 29, 2021 at 9:42 pm

Loved this! Chising Norman Reedus πŸ‘πŸΌ

Jimmy Warren on August 26, 2021 at 8:57 pm

Damn boys really... Boondocks saints come on

Leena Pentti on August 24, 2021 at 11:38 am

I didn't know who Norman Reedus is, because I haven't watched the Walking Dead. But I also think that you lose something about your person when you become famous enough. I bet many really big celebrities miss the time when there were places in the world where no-one recognized them.

Jeanette Taylor on August 21, 2021 at 5:32 pm

This was an awesome conversation! I think you guys are exactly where you need to be, 'famous' wise. You're down to earth and that's what makes you guys so lovable! Thanks for all you do!

Rachel Black on August 20, 2021 at 7:57 pm

I get occasional flare ups with my shoulder bursitis, see a physiotherapist a few times a year and exercise and it gets better. You should do that Rhett :)
Good question Link! I think you're a good level of famous - not ridiculous level where you have no life and get papped everywhere. You guys also live in LA - where I imagine there's a lot of celebs, so there's more buy in you know?

Laurie Owen on August 20, 2021 at 5:48 pm

I loved Rhett just dropping the conversation and asking"You want to get a McGriddle?"πŸ˜‚ Yes Rhett I really do want to get one now πŸ˜†
I would be happier to meet you than many co-called celebrities. In my experience rhe more fame means the more douchey they become. Bit you guys have managed to retain the genuine care most lose.☺

Terrie Guajardo on August 20, 2021 at 5:34 am

I love this one so much!

Madison Christian on August 19, 2021 at 6:30 pm

i think another reason why you guys don't feel as famous is because of how in-touch you are with your fans. you interact with us average people so much that maybe you even feel a little bit guilty when you don't act like an average person yourselves. ALSO, tv and movie stars, or musicians, are friends with other people on that same level. you guys have a friend group that is just normal people, so you're always getting that normal person experience.

i recently saw some fans of harry styles talking about their frustration with how little he acknowledges his fans, or how it seems like his fame has made him untouchable, and although i feel lucky to know that i can't relate to his fans in that way, it is still nice to see you guys bask in your fame sometimes. i think we all love how reachable and approachable you guys seem, but we also like to know that you treat yourselves for all of the sheeet you've been through to make it here.

finally, drinking the kool-aid never leads to anything good. your pockets are heavily-lined and millions of people love you, but you can still take your families out to dinner without being ambushed. and that sounds like a pretty great position to be settled in. <3

I did have to google Norman Reedus when you brought him up, but I'm not sure if that says as much about his popularity as it does about my spotty pop-culture knowledge.

Beverley Smith on August 19, 2021 at 5:07 pm

I think you guy's have the better deal. You are mega popular in your field of Youtube but can enjoy the freedom of not being mobbed and recognised wherever you go. Knowing you both as much as a fan can, I really don't think you'd enjoy mega fame as much as the freedom you have now. Having said that Rhett would definitely enjoy getting into the elite goffing establishments πŸ˜‰

Kayse Angel on August 19, 2021 at 7:47 pm

you guys may not be quite as famous as some of those tv/movie stars out there but I'd 100% rather meet you guys in person vs any tv or movie star!

Christina Hauze on August 19, 2021 at 12:28 pm

I consider you famous.

Really enjoyed this vlog! Great question! Image if Rhett and Link were in a game like Death Stranding.

I think a lot of people are aware of who Rhett and Link are or of GMM but don't label themselves as Mythical Beasts or don't watch on a regular basis. Somehow in every conversation I have with someone GMM comes up. People say they have a family member who watches them a lot or has seen them on YouTube's home page.

Fame is overrated. You put your work out into the world and people will do what they want with it. What matters is you put your heart into it. I think it's nice not worrying about paparazzi or large crowds. It's quantity vs quality. Mythical has created a space for people to feel safe and have a "connection" to the brand and faces. I've been a fan for many years and have stayed because I enjoy the content and the folks involved are grounded and open-minded.

Tabitha Wagner on August 19, 2021 at 8:35 am

I was thinking Rhett was more of the popular level of the actor who played Glenn. Steven Yeun. Or Josh McDermitt who plays Eugene on The Walking Dead hehe. Speaking of body hurting, unfortunately last month I found out I have arthritis in my back. It sucks! I have yet to reach 40.

Shanice on August 19, 2021 at 12:23 pm

I love how only one question was answered in this whole vlog and it was asked by Link himself πŸ˜… it actually turned out to be quite interesting!

Lillian Carilo on August 19, 2021 at 5:20 am

7:00 am: Planned to fall asleep "for the night" but then I saw some video went up. So, bye zzzzzzs. Haha

Grace Moore on August 19, 2021 at 11:36 am

omg I loved this!!

Naemah Raheem on August 19, 2021 at 10:46 am

I have a good friend that works the sci-fi and horror conventions across the country; and she handles the featured guests. She has developed a good rapport with Norman. My Brothers, you DON'T want to be Norman famous. He's had to deal with numerous stalkers - towards himself and his family.

StormCrow on August 18, 2021 at 5:31 pm

there are a lot of "famous" people out there that I have never herd of ever.

Kristina Glasgow on August 18, 2021 at 2:25 pm

Paused to say that doctor Link is helping. I had the same sensation of walking on a balled-up muscle on the bottom of my foot for a month and a half. It went away but then I started getting a swollen vein and pain in foot for next month or so. Doctor prescribed compression socks (I'm only 35!). Rest wasn't happening anymore (bottom of foot) so I forgot to mention it. So interesting to hear Link mention the same thing.

Jessica Ross on August 18, 2021 at 12:53 pm

Great question Link, thank you for asking.
In my opinion and I may not be alone in this is the way you approach being popular. You are down to earth and relatable.
You are famous to us, yet with the work you do on GMM and ear biscuits, you also have become to the community a friend and role model.
It is something I have always appreciated

Erica Darnell on August 18, 2021 at 7:14 pm

Man! I've done the same thing, spent so much time laying facing the Hubs w my right shoulder propped up & it's started giving me fits. I can't lay that way anymore. πŸ₯Ί Yep! right where Link touched Rhett's shoulder, right there. Wow, I hope Rhett is able to get it fixed w/o surgery! 😱 And I hope Link's isn't bugging him too badly these days.
Oh no, planter fasciitis?? 😩 Oh, gosh! I hope that gets better quick, too! That makes me cringe but I can't help but chuckle a little bc I just developed tennis elbow 3 days ago. πŸ˜‚ Ugh, getting old sucks sometimes but hey, it beats the alternative. For now...[reaches for the Bio-freeze]

I like that y'all are more grounded or "normal". I think it's part of the appeal. But in my eyes, you *totally* get the Cool Kool-Aid. πŸ–€

Sofia Solferino on August 18, 2021 at 12:08 pm

Hiya! Long-time fan here to tell you that one of the things that keeps me here is how grounded you are.
In regards to what Rhett said about one day giving it a go at taking advantage of your popularity, I think there's nothing wrong with just trying. What makes the difference here is the fact that you THINK about doing it, like, it has to be a conscious thing to consider doing it. Someone who's more full of themselves would not even stop to think, they would just use that advantage on a daily basis. That's my two cents!
Love ya <3
