Oh shit I shed a tear. Mike is incredible
I’m new here and this series was the factor that pushed me to join. I love this and hope they never get rid of it. Also a lot of these shows I’ve never seen mike is very good at making me want to binge all of them
This was so sweet!
This series seems like it will be a real blessing to people with neurodivergences, like myself. I have been accused of both not making enough eye contact or misreading cues, to blowing important job interviews for making too much eye contact and over-reading cues.
I know my best friend understands, but I never want to respond improperly in what can be construed as an uncaring manner. This has given me pause for reflection. ❤️
Science Mike thank you so much.! These are such important lessons to me. As someone experiencing PTSD I struggle with maintaining boundaries & always being present in my friendships. I am so glad you are doing this series. Please never take this vid down.
What an amazing series! And, Science Mike is absolute perfection! Thanks Mythical for sharing such wonderfully insightful content.
This feels like he is talking to a child, but in the best way. Like I'm finally getting a lesson I should have gotten in grade school.
This is an awesome series! Psychology is very interesting especially with the practical application. Looking forward to more!
I absolutely loved this!
Love Mike!!
bravo! love it! thank you for this!
Ditto!
And what a great concluding message Mike gives, that we all "deserve that same kind of space [that let's us feel safe and grow as people], support, and solidarity".
This was so fascinating and informative, and I can't wait to see more! I think GMM should consider making this series available for everyone to watch. I think many people don't know how to be supportive listeners, or what to look for in body language during social interactions. I gained so much information from this that I will definitely be using in my life going forward, and everyone should have the opportunity to. ❤️
Completely agree
I agree, too. Wish I could see more!
Agreed completely. 💖
I need more Mike in my life
Don't we all, don't we all.
This is like modern Mr. Rogers. I love it.
I absolutely loved this episode and the reaction video also.
I am now thinking how much it would help me in my role as a teacher, and in my role as a parent, if Mike could do a video with some self regulation tips. I teach teenagers who are intellectually impaired, many of whom are from trauma backgrounds. One of the biggest things holding them back from successful relationships and employment is their lack of self regulation. When they are at breaking point for whatever reason they can't get themselves back to baseline without support. I have trouble explaining to them how to help themselves because I don't have the same issue. I'm someone who naturally regulates and rarely loses her cool, so explaining to teenagers who lose their cool multiple times a week how to self-soothe feels impossible. I've never been angry enough to punch a hole through a wall or smash my own belongings or threaten violence on others; but these students get to that explosive point and unless staff are there getting them to go for a walk or listen to music or take a break and get a drink etc they just lose control. As life would have it I now have a 9yo daughter who also loses her cool in explosive ways and I'm feeling impotent again at home. If Mike has a scientific explanation and self regulation starter ideas, I would be so delighted to hear them.
😊
I was thinking of showing this to my own classroom of students but they're a bit young (upper elementary) for the content - maybe consider showing this to your students if you have the time in the day though! It's engaging enough that they might get something out if it!
my students are 16-17yrs old so they are old enough... the trouble is a few of them respond badly to being reminder of trauma. I'm unsure whether it will help or hinder to have them watch someone referring to trauma when they themselves may react badly to seeing someone locked in a cupboard hiding. hmm. Teacher troubles. The Bridgerton episode is definitely not something I would show them as I think the moment he starts explaining romantic connections I would lose too many of them to hormonal giggling.
This was so interesting to watch. My only issue with any mythical society videos is the lack of captions, but hey, just means I have to rewind a few times to hear it correctly.
It had captions for me. I'm HOH and always use captions. :)
I'm also HOH, didn't know they had them until Janice above pointed it out. thanks!
There should be captions if you tap the dots on the side of the video
sweet Jesus thank you!
this was really insightful and calming
As someone who struggles with reading social cues (autism) and feeling like what I "give off" is interpreted incorrectly, this was great and informative. Thank you!
This is a fascinating series, I can't wait to see the rest!
I tend to do everything wrong with the verbal cues, and usually read them wrong, so if there is a scientific way to approach being a good friend, I need it.
i always enjoyed the friendships in stranger things. how their dyanimc works, and people grow to like unlikely friends. Dustin and Steve are definite favorites! but Steve and Robin are the best.
Wow ... Science Mike sounds like a relationship therapist!
Wow. Very interesting. Lots of stuff I've never thought of before. Is there anything Mike doesn't know?
Science Mike is so cool. I love the science experiments episodes on GMM. 😁
An amazing episode. That need to stay present with our friends and really engage with the cues they're giving is so important. Excited for the rest of this series <3
i loved this soooooooooooooo so so so much. i wasn't expecting to cry, though!
I love the science in this, but I especially love Science-Mike. His tone and explanation of things makes everything super interesting and delight to learn.
wow! this is so amazing and informational on understanding those with mental illness or trauma and helping humans understand how to interact with other humans in a way that lifts each other up! this kind of content is really needed in today's world! ❤️
It's really great to have another series with Mike on the society!❤️
love this! I knew it would be great but wow!! thanks mike!
Just a thank you from a 70, newly widowed, old lady. Its taken me 6 months to figure out these clips and yours was the First to work with just a click. Your like a race horse at the starting gate, can't wait to teach and show. We feel it! Right up there with Ronstadt. Another Property on the MYTHICAL Monopoly board
game. What a fun thing to develope. Thanks Mike, can't wait to hear number two and three ....... and on. THANKS!
if you ever need any help figuring things out, you can always message me!
Thx for being your Mythical best! ❤️
Love seeing analysis like this.
me too! it gives me the ability to figure out cues to use in my own life and also know other people's cues so I can be able to work off of them in order for everything to work!
this is so lovely. my best friend and i have our own way of communicating, so seeing it with rhett & link helps me believe that her and i will be friends for a very long time.
Aahh, Mike, every time I listen to you speak (in Cozy Robot clips too), I get emotional. I think it's because you always say what I needed to hear! I hope you know how valuable you and your work are to this community! You and RandL are lucky to have each other :')
This series as a whole will surely strike a chord with me since I recently noticed most of the things I'm a fan of have a strong friendship at their core (BTTF being one of them, so I definitely second that Marty/Doc idea!).
Thanks for sharing and love from Argentina!
Mike is really rocking some Mr. Rogers vibes with that cardigan, his tone, and the overall message. Watching this was super comforting.
for real!
Science Mike is the perfect host for this show!
Really enjoying this! As a nurse, I'm cognizant of how my patients perceive our healthcare interactions and forms their experience. This series is exciting!
Way to go Mike, Rhett and Link for adding this component to the MS.
What a great show!
i loved this! i have such a hard time picking up on non-verbal cues at all (if it's not explicitly said it doesn't exist!) so this was fascinating to see things be dissected. can't wait to see more of mike!!
I’m just here waiting for the Rhett and Link reaction video. 😎
Wow loved this first episode. can't wait for the next one!!
This is a fun and creative way of teaching us about verbal and nonverbal communication. Taking things I enjoy and applying them to my life is very informative. And Science Mike really makes you think and brings the joy to learning.
I upgraded from Initiate to see this series, and I'm loving it so far! I'm looking forward to more.
I look up to Rhett and Link's friendship. I wish I had a friendship like theirs. My friends and I have drifted apart but we still love each other. This is really informative on body language though to help me move forward to make new friends. I always want to listen to what they have to say and just be there for them whenever. This is a nice way to learn to educate myself more about nonverbal communication.
Thanks for an amazing show already. It's so unique--nothing like it on the internet--and yet so totally perfect for the Mythical brand. Excited to learn how to be better friend!
I loved this. It was fascinating to watch and Mike has such a thoughtful and pleasant way of explaining things. I can't wait to see more!
Loved this episode-can't wait for part 2.
Y'all are really creating a space for your fans to grow and learn along side amazing roll models and discussions. This mini series is no different. Thank you all for the things you do to help this world be more mythical.
I think mike should do doc and Marty sometime on the series and maybe in the heights as well
Ooh, that’s a fun idea.
I know Mike is married, but he's totally my dream man
this is totally interesting. love the science behind it all thanks mike
This series is going to be amazing if this first episode is any indication. Emotional awareness is so important for ANY relationship especially in friendship
This would be great if I actually had friends lol
You are spot on Mike! My career has been as a mental health counselor in a facility with 5-10 years olds who have experienced trauma and or have emotional challenges. I teach social skills group daily and have developed many lessons on 'friendship'. Even little kiddos, can learn to watch others cues and be aware of their own body language and non verbals.
I love Stranger Things and those were great examples- I cant wait to see what others shows and characters will be next. Awesome start to this FriendScience series!
Plus Rhett and Link sharing what their perspective in a few days will be like a bonus mini Ear Biscuits!
This was absolutely fascinating and Mike did an amazing job at explaining. No doubt this is going to be one of my favourite society series.
As someone who may not be the best at social situations, I feel this is going to be so helpful. Thank you guys
This series could not have happened at a better time for me. I have gone through some things that have cut me off from some close friends and the thought of making new friends as I advance through me fifties (yeah, I'm old) terrifies me. I can always count on Rhett and Link to see me through.
Fascinating! I've been studying kinesics for the last several months now as I've been wanting to become more adept at reading people in general. It really does help you become more aware of others and even improve one's own nonverbal communicative skills, especially if you want to help put people at ease and make them more comfortable/happy. This is gonna be a great series. I appreciate the way Mike so effectively breaks this down for us. 🖤
I was right! this will be one of if not the best of the stuff they’ve done on the Society!
Mike is amazing! He has such a calm demeanor whatever the subject matter. I could listen to him all day! Rhett and Link are so incredibly lucky to have him in their lives and I thank them for bringing Mike into mine :)
Can’t wait to see Rhett and Link react to this. Mike- you’d do an amazing job, I loved every bit of this!
I can't express enough how much I enjoyed this! My two favorite genres, science and mythicality (yes I'm naming mythicality a genre lol) coming together, and Mike is just the best. Looking forward to the next episode! Super interesting!
Science Mike has such a great way of making seemingly boring concepts interesting. Love it 😊
Great stuff! Thanks Science Mike! Looking forward to more
This series does not disappoint. As always Science Mike is informative while also being very entertaining. He is always such a pleasure to watch and listen too. I am so happy that this series exists now and I cannot wait for more!
MORE SCIENCE MIKE PLEASE!!
thank you.
this is great guys! like, I mean, I knew it would be but this is like really really great! I cannot wait till Thursday.
This is really cool and informative! It was crazy to watch this and think of my own tendencies during just basic communication. Really excited for more of this series.
